when to apply for visa

Question

Hi, we are canadian citizens and live in vancouver. We are planning to visit China for two week holidays in late September, 2012. I have our air tickets but hotels and detail itinerary for the tour have not been booked yet. I have downloaded the VISA application form. Approximately when should we apply for a single entry VISA? If you travel to China is in late September, 2012, you need to wait and apply for China visa in July, August or early September. A single entry China tourist visa is valid for 3 month after issue. So, make sure do not apply too early.
