Stay longer than 60days?

I'm holding US passport and want to visit my dad in China. My L-Visa was one year with multiple entries, 60 days stay duration. I would like to stay in China for about 6 months. What should I do? To my understanding, I'm not eligible to apply for the temporary resident permit since I'm over 18 and my dad isn't 60 yet. Or is there any way that i can apply for the temporary resident permit

Since you are holding a multiple L-Visa for one year, then there are two ways to stay in China for 6 months. One is that you exit China and go to Hk for several hours several days before the 60 days duration, and then enter China to stay for the next 60 days, and so on. The other way is u can try to apply for extension of stay twice for 30 days each from the local public security bureau where your father lives.

If you are more than 18 years old, it's impossible for you to apply for a China temporary resident permit.
