About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

my partner and are engaged but not married and would like to apply for a working visa.

We are planning on working in China. We have a one year old son. One of us will need to look after our son while the other works. If I get a work visa will my fiance be able to apply as a family member or do we need to be married?

Many thanks

Your fiance can't apply as a family member because you are not married.
