information on transportation from guangzhou to hongkong

Question

I'm planning to travel to Guangzhou in mid Feb 2012 and going to Hongkong via Guangzhou.Is Feb 2012 a Peak season for travelling to HKG via Guangzhou, do I have book either the train ticket or bus ticket to HKG in advance?  If I'm going to book the train/bus ticket upon arrival, where should I purchase the ticket from?

the ticket will not be difficult to get after Feb. 6 (the Lantern Festival), usually you can get it when you arrive at the railway station. trains depart from Guangzhou East railway station, and you can purchase it in the railway station.
