About:Chinese Zodiac

why is dragon not ranked first?

I thought dragon was rank 1 since it is the luckiest sign for Chinese...so why is it rat?

It is not lined up for luckiest or not. The selection and order of the animals is decided by their living habits. Rat is looking for food from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., this is the most active time for rat, the first hours of a day. So, rat is the first.
