Documents such as affidavit of marital status certificate, student's admission paper, personal identification and documents concerning adoption, court appeal, commercial activities, estate and properties, etc. could be authenticated by the embassy of China in Ottawa only after being notarized by a notary office and certified by the Legal Advisory Division of Department of Foreign Affairs of Canada (125 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Tel: 613-9950119) or the Secretaire de la Chambre des Notarires de Quebec (800 Place Victoria, Montreal,Tel:514-8791793).
Documents for authentication must be translated into English or Chinese. To obtain authenticated documents for adoption, birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificate and death certificate are not necessarily to be translated into English or Chinese. For other purposes, such as marriage, renouncement of property etc., these above-mentioned certificates should be translated into English or Chinese.
