Requirements for Work visa

Whilst in Beijing last year I heard a lot of people say that in order to get a work visa for China foreign nationals must first have 2 years work experience in their home country. However, I can't see this detail in any of the official websites. I was hoping to head for Beijing as soon as I graduate (I am currently a final year undergraduate) to work there long-term (I study Chinese and love China!) and don't want to have to be stuck in the UK for 2 years first.

Also, if I went to China on a tourist visa, once I found a job can I easily upgrade to a work visa whilst in China, or do I have to leave the country first and re-process in the UK/HK?

Thank you!

Yes, 2 years work experience is required if you want to work in China. It's true that 2 years work experience is not listed as a requirement for China work visa application. However, when you employer applies for Alien Employment License for you at the Human Resources & Social Security Bureau, he/she needs to submit the curriculum vitae of the foreigner and the credentials of the foreigner required for the performance of the job(Chinese version), if you don't have a 2 years work experience, your employer can't get the Alien Employment License for you, then you can't apply for Chian work visa without this document.
