do i need a visa for guangzhou for 15 hours?

we are  australian citizens travelling southern  airlines from sydney to los angeles, and retrun, and the way back we have 15 hours waiting time we would very much like to visit guangzhou city,do we require any visa for the 15 hours out on the city,thanks tina

Yes, a transit visa is required if you leave the airport to visit Guangzhou city during the 15 hours stopover. I also hear that it is possible for Australian citizens to apply for a 24 hours stay permit when they arrive in Guangzhou airport if they want to leave the airport to visit the city. You can try to obtain a stay permit when you arrive.
