A business visa or work visa is both ok. however, it is complex to organize all the requirements for work visa application, such as the alien employment license, official invitation letter. The China branch of your UK company should get the two documents for you.

If you apply for F visa, the China branch of your UK company just need to send you an invitation letter issued by Foreign Affairs Office or Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.
