About:China Visa on Arrival

Is a visa required for CZ345 flight Guangzhou to Amsterdam, via technical stop at Beijing.

I am flying from Sydney to Guangzhou, 6 hours later I take flight cz345 to Amsterdam, via technical stop at Beijing. Do I need a visa for this flight, only 1 hour 10 minute stop over. A person told me I do, however everything I read says if I leave same day I don't need.
I have Australia Visa and the whole trip is booked with China Souther Air Sydney to Glasgow, UK. leaving Sydney 21 December 2011. Thank you for any advise

According to the Exit-Entry Administrative Law of PRC, aliens holding connecting flight tickets with confirmed seats transit two or more cities within 24 hours, a transit visa is not required, but they need to apply for stay permit at the airport.

In the actual operation, the rule applies differently. Some airports require passengers to obtain a transit visa or tourist visa in advance, some airports don't require it. However, even some airports refuse passengers to board the flight without China visa.

Please call your airline company to check it whether it allows you to board the plane or not.

Hi Harold, I'm taking similar route in spring (AMS - (PEK tech. stop) - CAN - AKL and vice versa). Can you confirm that I don't need the visa for the double-stop?

No visa required in my case, when arriving at Guanghzou from Sydney we were directed to foreigner section where a Stay Permit for is issued. This takes you through customs and you can leave the airport. You will be given a time and place to assemble for the connecting flight to Beijing/Amsterdam. You will then be escorted back through security and then to the departure gate. At Beijing there is no problem, you will be escorted through the procedure, a little messy.
Return, we missed our flight, at Gaungzhou, (Glasgow 45mins late leaving,Amsterdam 2.5hours sitting in aircraft before take off, missed flight to Sydney, given another stay permit and taken to dirty hotel for 24hr stay, meals you could not eat, and no phone calls, there was wifi).
Food was good, service was poor, on the Sydney to Guanzhou/ Guangzhou to Sydney flights, the seating was too close to gether, the toilets were smelly and there was minimal in flight entertainment, in my case, none both ways.
The other flights were excellent, plenty of leg room, good in flight entertainment, etc.
To sum up, try to avoid transitting through China, even though it is cheap it is hardly worth and I believe you will need minimum 3hrs between flights in China airports, very slow prcessing.
