About:Chinese Embassy in U.K.

Would like to know if I can renew my old HK ID card

I would like to know if I can renew my old HK ID card to the latest HK Smart card in the chinese consulate in manchester. It is for the purpose of applying for the $6000 handout.

No, one cannot renew HKID outside Hong Kong. But if you'll apply for a passport, the consulate will issue a passport and a new HKID at the same time.
