About:Marriage Registration in China

Does Authentication or Notarization means Certified Translation?

Does Authentication or Notarization means Certified Translation? perhaps i need someone to help me get this correct because i am confused, i am confused because my brother traveled to China on F visa to get married with his Chinese girlfriend luckily for him he has all the required documents including Single Status Certificate with the red seal and a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attached but on his arrival in China they said he must send the Single Status Certificate to the Chinese Embassy in his country for further certification or legalization. can someone help me? cant we just translate this single status certificate to Chinese and submit it in china? A friend told me that if we need a single status certificate to marry in China then we must go to the Chinese embassy in our country. can someone answer and explain all this to me? Thanks

You are talking about Affidavit of Single Status. Here are steps for getting a Affidavit of Single Status for your reference:
(1). Affidavit of Single Status, signed before a notary public.
(2).Certified by a local Notary Public and then to be authenticated by the Academy of Law of applicant's counry.
(3). Certified by the relevant China Consulate General or embassy in applicant's home country.
Yes, the last step should be done in the China consulate or embassy of the applicant's country. Some can be done by the representative of the applicant. some consulate or embassy asks for the applicant's personal appearance. You should confirm with china embassy in Ghana for further information.
