If the stopover in Shanghai airport is less than 24 hours and you won't leave the airport, a China transit visa is not required.

You did not get my point. I am neaplese and travelkling to Shanghai and other place in China for buiness trip for my Indian co. Via New Delhi. I am told I need VISA for India while returning back to India as Nepalese nationals coming in to India from China will need Visa?? whereas, normally for Nepali and Bhutanese, India does not ask any Visa for travelling to India through any other countries in the world.

Nepalese need a visa for India, if you are flying for India from shanghai. You have to go to Indian consulate in Shanghai to process it. That's a rule.
