Visa for UK Student Wishing to complete a placement

I'm a student based in a UK university and I need to complete a mandatory placement in China as part for my degree, lasting a minimum of 9 months. I will still be registered as a student at my university and assessed during the placement.

What visa is most appropriate for my needs?

Dave, do you receive salary for the placement? If yes, work visa is most appropriate for your needs. If not, you can apply for an S or F visa.
