air tickethotel reservation

Question

i was browsing China Embassy website, and I did not see that the ticket and hotel reservation must be shown when applying for tourist Visa. Do you have a link from them saying that it is really needed. My boss is asking me to apply for it ASAP, but we we not know the details yet on when we are meeting a new client in Shanghai, that is why I do not have any of these to show yet. Is it possible, coz I am a foreigner just holding an Emplyment pass EP.Thanks.
