Canadian citizen applying for Chinese VISA in HongKong

I am a Canadian teaching English in Korea. I want to visit China after my Korean work VISA is finished on Nov 1, 2011. I cannot apply for a Chinese tourist VISA in Korea due to the new rules requiring 6month left on my Korean work Visa. Would it be possible to apply for a Chinese tourist VISA in HongKong? Thank you.
