About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

Do I need a transit visa for 1 night stay in China?

My partner and I are Australian citizens who are traveling to America in March next year. We have a 16 hour stop over in China on the way. During this time we would like to get out of the airport and spend a little bit of time in China. What type of visa do we need?
