Planning on travel by train from Beijing to Xian, Yantze River, Shanghai then Hong Kong

Hi I'm from Australia, do I need any special requirements to apply for Visa such as "detailed itinerary with dates and times" etc.. as I travel with minimal plans as to how long at each destination, and do i need multi entry visa if I enter Hong Kong and then return to China as I plan on travel back to Malaysia from China.

I think your detailed travel schedule will not be necessay, but your hotel booking and round-way air tickets may be required for the visa application instead. Australian passport holders are exempt from visa to Hong Kong for as long as 90 days, so you may just need a single-entry visa to enter China from Hong Kong.
