Is it best to book the trip before you go or wait until i get to China.Could someone tell me the best web site to look at to compare prices from inexpensive to expensive.

There is no ferry service from Wuhan to Chongqing now. You can take bus from Wuhan to Yichang and then take ferry from Yichang to Chongqing.  You have no need to book the ferry service in advance.
