About:Chinese Embassy in Malaysia

problem getting visa today to enter china even though my passport expiry is on 5 march 2011

Hi, I went to the chinese embassy in wellington, new zealand today ie 2 sept 2011 to apply for a tourist visa to travel to china on 9 oct 2011 for a 13 day tour, starting from malaysia, But I was rejected because they tell me that my malaysian passport which expires on 5 march 2012 does not qualify for the visa ,even though it is still more than 6 months from expiry date.It will take me 3 months to renew my malaysian passport from new zealand and I can only come back to Malaysia on 1 oct 2011, By which time, I understand the chinese embassy will be closed for one week for china;s independance day celebration,Can you please help advise me what to do, since i have already booked and paid for the tour.

siew kim lim, sorry to hear it, now there is no other option, you have to renew your passport first, when you apply for China visa, a passport with at least 6 months validity is required.

Hi, I am siew kim lim from Malaysia again. If I am able to get the china visa on my current passport expiring on 5 march 2012 in new zealand, and go back to Malaysia to renew my passport before my tour departs, can I use the this china visa on the old passport together with the new passport for entry into China, as long as the visa is still valid?
Thank you very much for your prompt reply to my earlier query,
Kind regards and have a nice day,
siew kim
