American passport holder, wanting to change from an L to an F visa.
I have all the documents, letter of invitation, temporary residence permit, etc.
However, I was told that you could only apply for the F visa in HK. I'm wondering if this is the case, as I've read about other people being able to obtain their F visas at different locations.

Thank you for your help.

It is possible for you to get a China visa in Thailand. But it is safer to apply from the Commissioner's Office of the Ministry of China Foreign Affairs in HK, since you are not required visa to HK.
