About:China Customs Declaration
Is there any import duty on a gift value approx 2000RMB sent from New Zealand to China via DHl

Yes, you need to pay duty I am afraid. If the gift is no more than 500RMB, if is free of charge. Now perhaps, you should pay 1500RMB*10% for the duty.
