Do I need a China visa for staying in Beijng only one night?

Do I need a visa for staying in Beijng only one night? I will be arriving on the railroad from Mongolia and leaving the next day for USA.

What is a Chinese transit visa? How do I get one for going from Mongolia to China? Might the travel company have already done that?

Yes, you need a China visa for staying in Beijing for one night. Please apply for a Chinese transit visa in Mongolia.

You can apply for China transit visa or tourist visa for the 1 night stay in Beijing, transit visa is issued to aliens who transit through China. You can enquire the travel company if you use it to plan your trip. You can get China visa from Chinese embassy in Mongolia
