Criminal records for Australian citizens wanting a visa to China

If you have a criminal record and you are an Australian citizen applying for a 3 month tourist visa to China will you be refused?

You'd better not declare that you have criminal record on the visa application form, then you will get a 3 months tourist visa to China. If you declare it, maybe your application will be denied.
