Hello,Anyone can tell me how to travel to greatwall from the downtown Beijing.I understand Beijing have two greatwall spot. which one is more original ?Please also inform me the cost for touring the greatwall.Thank you.

Hi here,In fact, there are 5 periods of Great wall in Beijing.The are named as Badaling, Juyongguan, Mutianyu,Simatai, and Jinshanling.The most famous one is Badaling Great wall.The most nearest of city centre is Juyongguan Great Wall.The most beautiful one is Mutianyu Great Wall.The most orginal one is Simatai Great Wall.But it is very far from Beijing city.It is about 150 kilometres away.The Great wall has the history more than 2500 years ago.All the buildings are purely artificial, it is the witness of human wisdom!

Unfortunately, Simatai Great Wall has been closed for renovation since June 17, 2010.

To Jinshanling, you may take a bus to Chengde at Liuliqiao Long Distance Bus Station where there is a bus every one hour between 08:00 and 18:00, get off at Jinshanling Intersection, and then take a taxi or walk to Jinshanling Great Wall.

The renovation of Simatai is scheduled to take at least 2 years without spicific date for the completion.  Foe the transportation, there is a bus from Beijing Hub of Tour Dispatch to Simatai Great Wall daily.  You can also take a bus to Chengde City at Dongzhimen long distance bus station, and ask the bus driver or the bus ticket seller to stop at Simatai Great Wall, or take bus No.980 to Miyun County  from  Beijing Dongzhimen long distance bus station and then take a taxi to Simatai Great Wall.For the Accommodation, there are Simatai Great Wall International Youth Hostel and Simatai Hotel.
