it's true that Z visa is stamped with 000 Duration of Each Stay after Entry, Z visa holders should apply for Residence Permit within 30 days after entry, the Residence Permit is generally valid for 1 year, you can stay in China for one year. Z visa only permits you to stay in China for 30 days.

I get the 30 days thing; and the need to apply for residental status after 30 days. But these people are not residing in China- which is why it's silly that China makes them apply for Z visas. They should be here on an F Visa. But as Performers come to China even temporarily, China is making them apply for Z visas- which they have now. but, since they have no intention of taking up a residence; but rather only staying another 15 days on tour, what is China's solution to renew or extend the Z visa that only lasts for 30 days.?

As I know, Z visa is also issued to a person who comes to China for commercial entertainment performance.
Therefore, the visa officer issued them Z visa according to the exit-entry regulations of China. Now, you or the principal of the performers can go to the local exit-entry administrative department of public security bureau to enquire it and get an solution. Maybe they will issue the performers a 15 days tourist visa (L)
