About:Requirements for China Green Card (Permanent Residence Permit)

Can I study in China if I have valid permanent residence for employment?

I have been working in a Chinese company in Beijing for more than 2 years and now I want to study more Chinese at University before leaving China definitively. I have the permanent residence permit stamped on my passport valid until the end of Jan 2012 so my future schools tells that I don't need to apply for X visa, but my company tells they will cancel my work permit. Could you please let me know how to proceed?
I am going to my home country in August and I could apply for X visa, but as I have residence permit I think it should be ok, shouldn't it?

Sorry, I think it is just a temporary residence permit valid until Jan 2012. But I have read information and been told that if the company cancels the work permit, then I will the PBS will get this information and this will affect my residence permit. I am scared because of this, as I will leave the country for 1 month and I don't know if at the arrival I will be allowed or not to entry in China if I did not apply for any other visa...
Please, advise me if you can. Thanks so muc

Is yours a permanent residence permit? or a temporary one? anyway, you can stay in China until your residence permit expires.

Yes, if the company cancels the work permit, the PSB will cancel your residence permit. You get the residence permit because of work, now you quit the job and will study Chinese, the university should help you to get X visa, you'd better go home to get a X visa to return to Mainland China.
