transportation to Summer Palace

Is it easier to take the public bus or the subway to the Summer Palace from Inner Mongolia Grand Hotel on Chong Wen Men Nei Street? Please give instructions on how to get there and back.

From the hotel, you can walk to Dongdan and take subway line 1. Then transfer to subway line 4 at Xidan and get off at Beigongmen station. Exit the station to find the north gate of the Summer Palace.
