About:Beijing Capital Airport Express Train

Is there an x-ray machine on the express train from the airport to Dongzhimen?

I am heading to a hostel in the Dong Cheng district. I was told to take the express train at the airport to Dongzhimen and then go to subway line 2, ride to Yong He Gong and connect to subway line 5 to get to the Dongsi stop. Is it easy for passengers on the express train and subways to navigate with lots of luggage? Or would it be better to get a taxi? And are there lots of stairs that I'll have to navigate once I get to the express train and subway systems? Thank you in advance for any responses!

If you take too much luggage, I think taking a taxi would be better, since the subway in Beijing is always crowded and you may have to climb or walk down many steps during the transfer in the subway station.
