Invitation letter for Chinese business visa

Can you please tell me, for a business visa whether you need the invitiation letter in original or scanned copy sent through email will do.

The embassy asks for the original invitation letter from the host company and the official invitation letter issued by an authorized Chinese government office for business visa application. The scanned copy of invitation letter or invitation letter send through email are not accepted.
