About:Terracotta Army, Xian

Should we purchase tickets for an August 2011 trip now to be assured of getting them?

You mean the ticket for terra cotta warriors in Xian? No need to purchase a ticket at all. Just buy ticket when you get to the site. If you mean the train ticket to Xian, it is necessary to book in advance, but only 10 days in advance.
