About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Transit to China, does it need a visa?

I would like to ask if I need to obtain a Chinese visa if my travel to China is only transit (to Sydney)?

If you hold Japan passport, a visa is not required for the transit in China because Japanese are exempt from a visa to Mainland China for 15 days. If you hold passport of other country, the stopover in less than 24 hours and you won't leave the airport, a visa is not requred.
