How long can you hold a passport?

Hi, i handled my application for my visa and it's supposed to be piched up today. I can't make to Auckland before next wednesday. I don't know anyone who can pick it up for me neighter. Are you going to be abble to hold my passeport for the next week or i have to come and pick it up before?
