china tourist visa is denied, will they give me a 30 days visa instead?

If my visa request for 90 or 60 days tourist visa is denied, will I automatically be awarded a 30 day visa instead, or will I have to apply again?

It is possible, visa officers will consider the documents you submitted and decide the final visa types according to related China visa regulations.  That is to say, if they deem your documents are not sufficient for 90 or 60 days visa, they will issue a 30 days visa instead. But there is also possibility that you will not be granted any visa.
