About:China Visa

I have 1-year multi-entry China tourist visa, must leave/re-enter every 90 days, need I go to HK?

I hope that I will be able to exit/re-nter the country through customs at the Shanghai Pudong Airport without having to buy a ticket or go to Hong Kong. Is such a thing possible? Is going to Hong Kong every 90 days the only option?

Yes, you have to go to Hong Kong or other countries/regions every 90 days to active the new entry.
