What is the price for check in luggage on train from Shanghai to Xian?

How much will it cost to check in a 20 kg suitcase on the train from Shanghai to Xian?

No need to check in your luggage. Passenger, who takes a train in China, could bring 20kg luggage for free.

I have two bags that weighs 20 kg each. So I guess I need to check in one? And is it possible to check in the bag on the same train on the same day so I get the bag when I arrive to my destination?

In terms of my experience, there will be no staff to check the weight of your luggage when taking train in China. You could take both them onto the train as heavy as you can.
