i plan to visit china for about one week during march 2012.

Question

Me and my wife will be in the US and Australia from June 2011 to March 2012 ( I am an Israeli professor and will be on sabbatical). If not in Israel, should I apply in the US or Australia?

You can't apply for China visa in Israel now, it is twoo early for you to apply China visa, a single-entry tourist visa is only valid for 3 months from the date of issuance. You can apply for China visa in US or Australia in late January.
