How long can I currently stay in China with an L visa?

I'm confused about the time : is it 1 month, 2 months or 3 months maximum? Last time I have been to China, in 2009, the maximum stay period on an L visa was 3 months, but I heard that it had changed.

validity of China tourist visa is 30 days now in general, but after entry, you can extend it twice in China at local PSB, with 30 days each extension.
