Hi, you can buy Local Sim card from china mobile shops. there is no english guide with out this Travelchinaguide.com ithink. so it is better you use a guide .

1)There is some people always sell local Sim cards in front of hotels . Buy one, ust it and throw away when you leave . that is it .2)No one speak English here in the street ,it is not even in English in most places that should be . So you will find your trip very difficult without any translators help when you purchase, discuss the price, shipping and documents .

It is not difficult without a translator. But the fees you pay for a good guide is definitely worth it.
