About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

Hi,

I am currently in Nepal. I wish to travel through tibet into china. I understand that I will get a group visa and permit to travel into Tibet with an organised tour arranged in kathmandu and I'm told that I can change this visa into a L visa once in Xining. Is this true?

I don't think you can change group visa into individual L visa in Xining this year. You have to enter and exit China with the group. You can talk to the tour operator if you really want to travel individually, you can ask him to apply for individual L visa for you, you just join the tour for Tibet, after visiting Tibet, you can go to other parts of China by using the L visa.
