About:China Train

Hi.....my first trip to china.....I fly into Guangzhou on 9 May and want to take trains to Guilin (Yangshuo) and Zhangjiajie. Is it better to go Guangzhou-Zhangjiajie-Liuzhou (bus to Yangshuo) train Guilin to Guangzhou like a big loop, OR Guangzhou to Guilin, and then travel by train to Zhangjiajie when I am ready? What are the chances of getting a ticket to Zhangjiajie or Guilin for the day I arrive in Guangzhou? I would like to get off the plane, then onto overnight train if possible.

If you’d like to be back to Guangzhou at last, either Guangzhou-Guilin-Yangshuo-Liuzhou-Zhangjiajie or Guangzhou-Zhangjiajie-Liuzhou-Yangshuo-Guilin, both travel routes are ok. Since there are no trains between Guilin and Zhangjiajie, you have to transfer at Liuzhou. It is hard to say whether you could get a ticket after arrival. Personally, train tickets on Guangzhou-Zhangjiajie route would be under less demand than that on Guangzhou-Guilin route. Anyway, you would better arrange the tickets in advance.
