hello i plan to visit hongkong next monththe flights are via shanghai with china

hello i plan to visit hongkong next monththe flights are via shanghai with china eastern airi will arrive at shanghai at 3pm and continue to hongkong the following morning at 8 am do i need a visa for an overnight stay ?can i stay in a hotel in the city center or must it be in the airport ?  i have israeli nationality thanks lior

You can't leave the airport if you don't have a transit visa, you must be in the airport. If you want to stay in a hotel in the city center, please apply for a transit visa in advance.
