About:Chinese Embassy in Kenya

I am invited to attend a close friend's graduation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University on 27th March 2011. Apart from valid passport, 2 passport size photos, application Form V.2011A (Is it OK to use the one from the website?), 3 months Bank Statement, must I produce a covering letter from my employer? Do I need to fix an appointment with the embassy in Nairobi (I live in Mombasa), Please advise.

It is ok to use the visa application form V.2011A form download from the website. you must provide the Covering letter from employer. Copy of Chinese resident permit or ID card of your friend, Invitation letter signed by your friend in Shanghai, Air ticket booking are also required for the Tourist Visa (L)Application for visiting friends. No appointment is required for visa application at China embassy in Nairobi
