We are planning a camping/hiking trip on the great wall (jinshaling/simatai or jianko) in early april 2011, do we need special permits to do that? If yes, where do we get that? Thanks.

There is no special permit needed if you hiking on the Great Wall, but the passport and visa will be required when you tour in China.
