How can I purchase bullet train tickets from shanghai to hangzhou? Is it advisable to purchase tickets on the day itself or should i purchase in advance? We plan to leave shanghai to hangzhou around 8am then return back to shanghai on the same day around 4pm on a Monday. How can we purchase tickets in advance?

If you will not travel during the peak time such as public holiday, the high-speed train tickets could be purchase on the spot at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station. Of course, to escape from a hurry morning, you could get the tickets one day in advance at any railway station in Shanghai.

it really depends on when. if your visiting during holiday or big event,it's better to buy train tickets in advance, you ask your hotel in Shanghai to buy the tickets for you.
