Hello,
I am trying to find the best way to leave Huangshan and head to Shanghai.
I will be staying at the Pine Ridge Lodge, which is near at the South Entrance to Mt. Huangshan in the Huangshan Scenic Area. I know that there is an overnight train, but I was hoping to leave earlier so I can spend the evening in Shanghai. Where can I find long distance bus information?

If you have been to Huangshan I would appreciate your comments and advice. My itinerary is similar to yours. Due to the good reviews on Pine Ridge Lodge, I am thinking of staying at Pine Ridge Lodge and continue on to Hongcun for a day trip. Did you go to Hongcun? The next morning climb Huangshan, stay overnight and descend the following day. I am tossing between taking the overnight train from Huangshan to Shanghai or the 3pm bus from Huangshan to Shanghai. My questions are: how far (& cost) was Pine Ridge Lodge to the foot of the mountain? Was the accommodation good? What was the overnight train like? Did you take the soft sleeper? What time did it leave Huangshan and arrive Shanghai. Was smoking allowed in the train? Is it possible to leave our luggage at Pine Ridge when we climb the mountain.
