Can you bring luggage on the train from Beijing to Xian?  If so is there a limit on the size of luggage?

Yes, you can bring luggage on the train, but your luggage should be within the weight of 20kg and the totally length of height+length+width should be within 160cm.  If big than that, you need to check in it.
