In April, we are taking the train to Tibet so we only have a day to spend in Chengdu. Is it possible for us to go Leshan Giant Buddha for day trip and back to Chengdu before 7pm using public transport eg. 7am express bus from Xinnanmen station? If not should we book a private car? or taxi is better? how much?Thanks.

It take two hours from Chengdu to Leshan. Why not go to see pandas instead. If you want to go to Leshan, better to hire a van, taxi is okay too. 700RMB is a resonable price.
