Hi,

I understand that the advice for people wanting short term visas is to say 'no' to the criminal record question, even if they have one, as the visa office doesn't check etc.

My question is, to get a Z visa (temporary residency), the visa part of the process would be ok, however what happens with the Work Permit? It is issued through the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Do they not check or have access to your criminal recors?
I have been in and out of China many times, so clearly they haven't stopped me when they scan my passport, but can the Ministry chack my record?

Thanks for that. My employer doesn't care, all they are worried about getting the work permit from the Ministry. It's impossible to get a straight answer from any Chinese official, and it seems bribes are the only way things get done here.

Ms.Sara, The Ministry of Labour and Social Security doesn't check the criminal record of applicants, please don't worry, you can declare that you have no criminal record on the application of Alien Work Permit, you are responsible for the reality of the information you decalare on the application.
