This is said to be the first temple in Tibet. The project started at 762AD on the birthplace of the king in reign. The king invited famous monks from Indian and built buddhist temples in order to restrain Ben Religion. The king ordered seven people from noble family to be the first monks living in this temple. They are said to be precursor recorded in Tibetan's buddism history. Hope this can gave you some useful information.
